Joel Berry
Joel Berry, Ph.D., is a biomedical engineer with thirty years of university research experience in life sciences and bioengineering. He graduated with a master’s in mechanical engineering from The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and completed his doctoral studies in biomedical engineering at Wake Forest University (WFU). He stayed at WFU for 20 years as a research scientist and then returned to UAB in 2010 to continue his work in the biomechanics of breast and ovarian tumors. He has led multiple teams on federal and industrial-funded research projects as a principal investigator or co-investigator. His intimate knowledge of how university scientists survive and thrive is ideally suited to Astound’s mission of lowering barriers to getting science funded.
