Jessie Axsom is a physiologist interested in understanding coordinated metabolic responses to acute physiologic perturbations. She has expertise in metabolic phenotyping, in vivo isotope tracing, and mass spectrometry, with experience in both untargeted and targeted metabolomics using GC and LC-MS. She received a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania where she studied systemic and tissue-specific metabolic responses to various exercise paradigms using carbon-13 steady-state isotope tracing. She also completed an intramural research training fellowship at the NIH where she studied how thermoregulation modulates age-associated changes in heart rate variability.
