Gertrude Nonterah

The Bold PhD
Dr. Gertrude Nonterah is a scientific communications professional working in biotech and founder of The Bold PhD Consulting. She graduated from Lewis Katz Temple University School of Medicine with a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology in 2015. She has bachelor’s degrees in nursing and biology. Dr. Nonterah’s PhD dissertation focused on studying the role of the bacterial amyloid curli in the modulation of intestinal homeostasis through TLR2/1 signaling. Her postdoctoral research at the University of California-San Diego focused on the role of macrophages in the pathogenesis of bronchopulmonary dysplasia in pre-term infants. Dr. Nonterah is a speaker on career design for PhDs. She has had the privilege of speaking at over 30 universities and professional organizations, including University of Oxford, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, University of California Berkeley, Johns Hopkins University and the Genetics Society of America. She is also the host of the The Bold PhD Podcast which helps PhD students and academics search for and land careers they thrive in.
