Welcome! Here’s everything you need to know about your Bitesize Bio Educational Webinar

We’re really pleased to have you on board as a Bitesize Bio webinar presenter. Below is what to expect and how the session is structured so you can focus on sharing your expertise.

Bitesize Bio educational webinars are short, focused, mentor-led sessions designed to deliver practical insights and hard-won experience to a global researcher audience. They are presentation-first, learner-focused, and professionally hosted.

What a Bitesize Bio Educational Webinar Is

A Bitesize Bio educational webinar is a short, presentation‑led session, delivered as a live broadcast with our production team. After the broadcast, we turn the session into an evergreen article and learning resource on Bitesize Bio.

This is not a panel discussion or sales pitch. The session is delivered live to an audience, but there is no audience interaction during the broadcast. You simply present from start to finish in a supported environment.

What the Live Broadcast Session Is Like

Here’s what to expect on the day (with a live audience watching):

  • You’ll join the broadcast room 20 minutes before the webinar start time
  • This time is used for onboarding and technical checks (audio, video, screen sharing)
  • Once ready, you’ll present straight through without interruption
  • The session ends when your presentation is complete

In some broadcast slots, multiple mentors are scheduled back‑to‑back. If this applies to your session, we’ll let you know in advance, and we’ll ask that you remain in the room while the other presenter(s) deliver their talk.

Total time commitment in these cases may be up to ~80 minutes.

What You’ll Need to Do

As the presenter, your role is to:

  • Deliver a clear, educational presentation on a topic you know well
  • Use slides (existing slides are absolutely fine)
  • Speak naturally — this is not expected to be scripted or over‑produced

You do not need to manage an audience, moderate questions, or handle any technical setup during the session.

What We Handle for You

Bitesize Bio takes care of everything around the presentation, including:

  • Technical setup and live broadcast support
  • Recording and post‑production
  • Editing and publishing the webinar
  • Turning your session into an evergreen article
  • Hosting and distribution via the Bitesize Bio platform

Our goal is for you to focus solely on sharing your expertise.

Role of the Host:

  • The webinar will be introduced and supported by a Bitesize Bio host.
  • The host will help manage the session flow, introduce you and your topic, and moderate the live Q&A.
  • You can focus on your content and expertise while we handle technical and audience interactions.

Technical Setup & Presenter Requirements

To keep this page clear and readable, we’ve put detailed technical requirements into a short Presenters’ Guide (PDF).

This covers:

  • Slide formatting and screen‑sharing best practices
  • Microphone, webcam, and room setup
  • Internet and computer requirements
  • What happens during the 20‑minute pre‑broadcast orientation

Please read this guide carefully, as following these steps ensures the best possible experience for you and our audience.

What We Need From You Today

Before we confirm your webinar booking, we just need you to:

  1. Access the dummy webinar via Chrome
  2. Successfully enter the webinar room
  3. Confirm your webcam and microphone are working
  4. Test screen sharing
  5. Let us know that everything works on your end

Please watch the video below and carry out the technical checks described before booking in for your webinar. If you encounter any issues at all, just let us know, and we’ll help you resolve them.

Sharing Your Published Webinar

Once your webinar and article are live, we actively encourage you to share them with your lab, department, collaborators, or social media following. To make this easy, we’ve put together a Webinar Promotion Guide with ready-to-use tips, example copy, and suggested ways to share your session effectively.

You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you like (there’s no obligation!) but mentors who do share often find it a great way to extend the reach and impact of their work.

What Happens After the Broadcast

After your session:

  • The broadcast is edited and published on Bitesize Bio
  • An accompanying article is created from your presentation
  • The resource becomes part of our long‑term educational library

Many mentors use these articles as visible evidence of teaching, outreach, and peer‑to‑peer contribution.

TL;DR! Before your session, please make sure you:

  • Read the Presenters’ Guide
  • Prepare your slides and email them to us 3 days before your recording date
  • Watch our technical team’s onboarding video

FAQs

The webinar is delivered live, with attendees joining in real time. At the same time, the session is recorded for repurposing into evergreen educational content on Bitesize Bio after the event.

Yes. Most sessions include a short Q&A at the end, where attendees can submit questions. The production team will moderate questions and support you throughout.

No, it’s still a single-mentor webinar, with a host to facilitate introductions and the live Q&A.

A typical session includes:

  • ~20 minutes of onboarding/setup with our production team
  • ~20 minutes for your presentation
  • A short live Q&A at the end

We’ll guide you through timings so everything runs smoothly.

Absolutely! You’re welcome to prepare for common questions, but the host will help filter and organise audience questions in real time.

You can share animation examples, but we recommend doing so with care. Live video playback (animations, screen recordings, or embedded videos) may not always play perfectly smoothly during the live broadcast, similar to what you may have experienced on Zoom. This depends on internet stability and screen-sharing limitations.

We recommend using a dedicated microphone or a headset with a built-in mic rather than your computer’s internal speaker/microphone, as this significantly improves audio quality for attendees. Our production team can suggest reliable, affordable options if you need a recommendation. Here’s one our team uses internally.

No, there’s no preferred slide format. You’re welcome to send your slides as PowerPoint (PPTX), PDF, Keynote, or any other standard format. We simply ask that final slides are sent to us in advance so our production team can complete technical checks.

If we don’t receive slides in time for technical checks, we may need to postpone or reschedule the session. We’ll always communicate with you clearly and aim to find a suitable alternative date.

Final slides should be sent to us at least three days before your scheduled session so we can run technical checks and ensure everything is ready for the live broadcast.

Absolutely. You’re welcome to use your own slides, visuals, and personal branding. We simply ask that the content is educational and aligned with the session topic.

Yes, speakers receive access to their webinar recording after the session.

Yes. Once your landing page is live, we’ll share it with you so you can review key details and let us know if any changes are needed.

Have a question not answered above?

If you have any questions at any stage about the format, content, or technical setup, just reply to your onboarding email or contact us at mentors@bitesizebio.com. We’re really looking forward to working with you and sharing your knowledge with the Bitesize Bio community.
