As a PhD student in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and as a postdoc in Paris, France, she worked on trinucleotide repeat disorders. First she focussed on the pathogenesis but gradually she moved to studying epigenetic consequences of these unstable trinucleotide repeats. She remembers making write-like movements (and being convinced that this was valuable exercise!) before she had learnt to write. These days, she satisfies this urge to write by communicating science - and life - to different audiences.
