What is MYO and KINO?

The CoolSNAP MYO and KINO cameras are named after two motor proteins which feature in cellular research- Myosin and Kinesin. Myosin plays a key role in muscle contraction, while Kinesin is responsible for essential functions in vesicle trafficking and mitosis. As these two motor proteins are an essential part of the driving force behind cellular movement, then the CoolSNAP MYO and CoolSNAP KINO will prove to be critical elements to enable life science researchers to accelerate their progress and to reach the goals of their work.

The CoolSNAP MYO

The CoolSNAP MYO is a unique high resolution and high sensitivity camera for low- to moderate-light life science applications. This cooled CCD provides 4.54 µm pixel pitch and 14-bit digitization at 20 MHz. This enables high spatial resolution and an optimized frame rate for live cell imaging. Its high Quantum Efficiency and 2.8 Megapixel resolution enable sensitive imaging with the option for binning for a higher dynamic range as well as increased signal-to-noise ratio.

Primary Applications

  • Immunofluorescence
  • Cell Trafficking
  • Fixed Cell Imaging
  • FRET, FRAP, FISH
  • Near-Infrared DIC
  • Calcium/Ion Imaging

The CoolSNAP KINO

The CoolSNAP KINO Monochrome CCD camera is a high resolution, high sensitivity imaging solution for moderate-light life science applications. It provides high spatial resolution for capturing fine details with its 4.54 µm pixel pitch with 14-bit digitization at 20 MHz. Its 2.8 Megapixels and a high Quantum Efficiency enables users to acquire exceptionally detailed images with clean backgrounds and the option to maximize performance using binning.

Primary Applications

  • Immunofluorescence
  • Electrophysiology
  • Fixed Cell Imaging
  • Near-Infrared DIC
  • Calcium/Ion Imaging
