I just wanted to make a quick announcement to let you know about three new goodies we have just added to Bitesize Bio. We have been trembling with excitement at the thought of releasing these (or maybe it was just the late night caffeine) — we hope that you will be just as excited!
First up: The Podcast
We have finally got around to releasing a podcast. So now you can get a regular infusion of Bitesize Bio-esque wisdom straight onto your iPod (or whatever else you listen to podcasts on). Aside from the useful info, this podcast is not to be missed for two other reasons: 1) The funky backdrop music and 2) the dulcet Scottish tones of our podcast presenter Cameron Robinson. We’ll be aiming to add a new podcast to the archive every 2 weeks or so. If you like the podcast, please remember to rate it in iTunes so that we can reach more people with it.
Second: New Web Seminars
We are patting ourselves on the back about some of the excellent new web seminars we’ve managed to set up. If you want a place on any (or all of these) you’ll need to act fast since places are limited, and vanishing quickly. Remember – all of our web seminars are completely free…
The new/upcoming series’ are:
Molecular Biology Toolswhich will have presentations on Designing qPCR assays, Using online molecular biology tools, and How Gene Synthesis Works
Publishing Your Science, which will cover what you need to know to publish successfully – everything from which reference manager to use, to how to write the paper itself. (Pssst: I will be speaking in this series…!)
Each workshop will be 2 hours long, with a limited number of places to enable lots of one-on-one interaction. We have teamed up with an excellent skills consultancy who will be delivering the workshops, so there is a charge for participants but we have worked hard to keep the cost down and think that it is excellent value training for anyone who is looking to climb the career ladder.
If you’d like to attend the workshop, please get in early as the few places available are going already, and the early bird price ends on 11 May. Whether or not you attend I’d be interested in hearing what you think about this approach, as we are hoping to run more of these workshops in the future. You can let me know your thoughts in the comments, or by emailing me via the contact form (link at the top of the sidebar).
Unless you are one of those rare breeds that do organization naturally, setting a system in place to archive your experiments takes practice and perseverance. It’s hard to imagine when you are doing an experiment for the 100th time that you will ever forget how to do it; but a year down the line, when […]
