The role
We are looking for someone with a life science PhD and recent lab experience, who is capable of writing clearly about complex topics for different audiences. You must be able to understand the science and potential significance of a story, then write about it, matching the writing style with the needs of the client and publication or medium. Equally important you will also need to be both highly organised and want/be able to take responsibility for managing multiple projects to deadlines from soon after day one.

The objective of your writing will be to make researchers/business managers take an interest in our clients’ products/technologies/services. Projects might include for example, interviewing a researcher who is using one of our clients’ products and turning this into an article, as well as drafting press releases and ongoing communications with the scientific trade media. Close liaison with clients and media is another key part of the role, so you need to be a good communicator.

Experience in a similar position is ideal but not essential as we are looking for a person with a solid scientific background and the ability to communications on multiple levels. A flexible, ‘can-do’ personality is a must. There will be some UK and occasional European/international travel.

ESSENTIAL
• Life Science PhD with an advanced, practical understanding of the life sciences
• Excellent writing ability
• Able to prioritise and manage multiple projects for clients
• Confidence to be dealing with clients and media from day one
• Good communication skills

• Creative thinking and enthusiasm
• Ability to attend meetings/exhibitions (sometimes at short notice)
• Flexible working approach, including ‘mucking-in’ to support colleagues

QUALIFICATIONS
• PhD in a Life Science discipline
• Second language ideal
