The “Postdoc life vs PI life” wasn’t really supposed to be from a PI point of view … I am somewhat between the two positions and was trying to present both views

And I think you did a good job of presenting both. But my impression was that the PI (esp. the young PI) can remember their Postdoc clearly enough to do justice to the Postdoc POV. Guess I was slightly off.
Great blog though, and that post was a good find - I’ve added you to my google-reader feed, and look forward to more posts.

Maybe I was taking the PI pov more than the postdoc, but that is just because I finished the rant with that pov rather than the first. I don’t think much about what I write, I just start typing and when I finish I publish the post, so I often end up presenting a completely different opinion than I started out with and what I had in mind when I started.
I guess rambling is one of the perks of writing to your own blog rather than writing papers, and I find it very liberating
I hope it will not annoy you too much if you read my ramblings in the future

Very liberating indeed! And speaking one’s mind, fleshing out nascent ideas, etc., are why got me interested in blogging as well.
